Social Media & Digital Marketing

Are you hesitant to dive into the newest social media? We, at Feast, encourage the use of social media as much as possible, and today we’d like to focus on Instagram specifically.

Instagram has 300 million users compared to Twitters 288 million, so before thinking you’re with the current forms of social media, think again. In the top 10 countries that use Instagram, the United States is no.1 and Canada follows shortly after.

Not to mention, the entire format of Instagram comes out on top compared to Twitter any day. What do you think consumers would prefer to look at? A picture with a small caption, or a caption that may or may not have an image attached? Instagram is appealing not only because it is new, but because it functional, for marketers to display their product or service or brand for free.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and if you are able to translate what you do or offer, in a visually appealing way this opens a door to positive reactions. If you can create multiple, this will draw more interaction to your profile. Your profile can now be built to how you want your business’s personality to look like. You should have a distinct, winning business personality, and the right photos shared on Instagram can go a long way in building a personality for your brand. Don’t underestimate the potential value of this universally, especially in niche markets where personality is even more important.

Once you have built enough followers, the door is wide open to encourage customers to engage and participate in events or conversations involving your business through the use of things such as hashtags. Why not encourage them to share photos of themselves using your product or service? Social media is social after all. This is why people love it so much. The more fun they have interacting with your business in social media, the greater chance they will end up spending money with you and encouraging the people they know to as well!

On a final note, Instagram provides a chance for your campaign to go viral. It only takes one home run campaign to change the public profile of your business. It’s also a nice thing to encourage employees or friends and family to participate in sharing and tagging through their Instagram accounts. Yes, one cute kitten photo shared for free can equal tens of thousands of dollars of advertising. Welcome to the age of social media, dive in!
